We recently constructed a two-tiered patio in Apex, NC. The homeowners called us because their yard was completely unusable in its current state. The steep slope kept them from being able to grill, enjoy a firepit, or even place a chair on the ground! They wanted to maximize their seating area with the option of adding a firepit, and provide a dedicated space for their grill.
We constructed the two-tiered patio to accommodate plenty of room for furniture and a wall for additional seating. All from within the Techo-Bloc collection, we constructed the new patio from Blu 60 Slate in Champlain Grey with a Chestnut Brown accent border, the stairs and caps from Raffinato in Chestnut Brown, and the wall from a mixture of 3″ and 6″ from Mini-Creta Architectural.
In order to maximize the space, we brought the new patio all the way from the home to the fence. The foundation drain for the home is located just under the crawl space entry door. In order to work around that area, we built a small wall that wraps around the corner of the patio. Never knowing it’s true purpose, the wall built to conceal the foundation drain blends right into the design!
This new patio in Apex now provides the family with a dedicated space for the grill (next to the deck stairs) and plenty of room for seating and a firepit. The homeowners had no idea we could build a patio that large, despite the challenges of working around the foundation drain. They are thrilled with their new space and we are moving on to build the next new patio in Apex right next-door!
